Experimental Gnash for Haiku Updated to v0.8.6

Adrian Panasiuk has quietly updated his Haiku port of the open source Flash movie player Gnash for use in Haiku R1/Alpha 1. The updated package consists of Gnash 0.8.6 with changes required to run under Haiku, as well as a script to add the SWF mime type. Adrien has also developed Firefox plugins that allow viewing Flash movies inside the BezillaBrowser bundled with Haiku.

Gnash for Haiku has many dependencies that need to be installed separately. The dependency list and the download URLs are documented in the Gnash-README file included in the download package; to install each dependency, just download and unzip it under the /boot folder.

Sound isn't working when running Gnash in Haiku R1/Alpha 1, so it has been disabled; but those who compile and run their own GCC4 builds of Haiku can try enabling sound by modifying the .gnashrc file located in the home folder.

Gnash for Haiku can be downloaded from here. The Firefox plugins are available for download from here. Development of the port can be followed on this bazaar branch that Adrian has on Launchpad.
